We are looking forward to hosting this year’s meet in Central Indiana. Columbus lies halfway between Indianapolis and Louisville off of I-65. By itself, Columbus is a destination location. Home to NASCAR’s Tony Stewart, Columbus is a major repository of modern architecture, with works by Harry Weese, John Carl Warnecke, Eero Saarinen, Cesar Pelli, and Richard Meier. Visit the Columbus, Indiana Visitors and Convention Bureau at www.columbus.in.us for more information.

The host hotel will be the Holiday Inn, Columbus. Amenities include complimentary wireless high speed Internet access and an indoor recreation center featuring large heated pool, whirlpool, game room, billiards, putting green and fitness center. More information about the hotel can be found at www.holidayinn.com/columbusin.

Several planned activities have been planned for meet attendees. On Wednesday evening, our traditional Wednesday Welcome will take on a Hoosier Hog Roast flavor as we reunite while dining on pulled pork barbecue and the “fixins”..

On Thursday, an all-day tour will take us to Indianapolis and two of the premier tourist attractions in Central Indiana. The first stop will be at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum. During your time at IMS, you may choose to take an optional grounds tour. This guided tour will take you to notable IMS landmarks normally open only to officials, drivers and teams during events. These sites include the timing-and-scoring suite in the Pagoda, the Media Center, Victory Podium, Gasoline Alley, and the start/finish line.

The second stop on this day-long tour will be Connor Prairie Interactive History Park. This living history museum, located in Fishers, Indiana, recreates life in 19th century Indiana and is affiliated with the Smithsonian Museum. The museum grounds are divided into several sections, where different eras in history are recreated to create a kind of living timeline. Staff, in period costumes, demonstrates the way early inhabitants in the area lived. They explain their lifestyles in character while performing chores such as cooking, chopping wood, making pottery, and tending to animals. Be careful, you might be asked to join along.

On Friday, after the General Membership meeting, the ever popular local garage tour will take you to two premier car collectors in the southeastern Indiana area. This will be a driving tour over fairly flat land. At the end of the tour, dinner will on your own with several distinctive and locally owned restaurants to choose from.

As you begin to plan, please keep in mind that the deadline to register and have your car judged is May, 20, 2012. The Show Lot assignments will be made at that point. Final numbers for the tours and meals must be submitted shortly after that. Cars that are registered after May 20th may be placed together as “Show Only” entries.

Hotel rooms must be booked directly with the Holiday Inn, Columbus at 812-372-1541. Please mention that you are with the NAOC group. All room rates are $89.00/night + tax. Room choices include King/Queen (1 or 2)/Doubles: smoking/non-smoking, interior or exterior entrance.
