President Larry Reid's Message
Congratulations are in order to our very fine editor, Wendy Crosby, for being recognized for the “Golden Quill Award” for the NAOC Runabouts To Rockets. Wendy has been instrumental in providing more color in every issue as well as publishing interesting and valuable articles. Thanks, Wendy.
As you read this, the 2010 NAOC National Meet is upon us in Lansing, Michigan. Many thanks to our meet hosts, Judy and Doug Badgley. An undertaking such as a national meet takes months of preparation and organization. Doug and Judy have done a wonderful job. Thank you.
I’ve been surprised by the number of Oldsmobile enthusiasts that email me asking for information or direction in their Olds project. Our Model Year Advisors are invaluable resources and I usually find that it’s best to just pass along any and all requests for information. One advisor has forwarded replies to me to questions asked by someone working on a problem. It doesn’t take long to realize how valuable these advisors are to the NAOC—not to mention someone who is stuck, not knowing how to proceed.
This brings to mind something that might be of interest to members. Probably each of us has had someone in the club go out of his/her way to offer technical advice or assistance. In my case guys like Bill Ehrsam, Jim Schultz, Charles Brennan, Terry Thach, and Don Baldwin have all come to my aid a lot more often than I’m comfortable with. If you have had someone who has gone above and beyond the call of duty, you might think of writing a brief article about how you have been helped out.
Our club membership seems to be going in the right direction. Thanks to all of you NAOC members that have found the opportunity to invite a new Olds owner to our club.
Happy Oldsmobiling,
Larry (#5069)
