President's Message: Jim Schultz
January 2015 Runabouts to Rockets

Welcome to 2015 and another year of Oldsmobiling. I hope the membership had an enjoyable holiday season. As we ease in to the new year, we start planning for the year’s activities. For NAOC members that means attending this year’s nationals in East Peoria, Illinois July 15–18. Phil Fischer has a great meet planned for us—please try to attend. Other regional shows will be listed on our Gathering Points page so look for one in your region to meet up with fellow Olds guys and gals. One of the first Gathering Points of the year will be the Arizona All Oldsmobile Show at the Scottsdale Pavilions put on by the Olds Club of Arizona March 28th. Go to azolds.com for details. The weather is usually great that time of the year, so escape the cold and come to Arizona. On the same date the Olds Club of Florida will be having their annual Gathering Point at R. E. Olds Park for Oldsmar Days in Oldsmar Florida. That event is also in a warm climate with many great places to visit along with the show so plan to attend these Gathering Points as well as our national meet in East Peoria.

As I’m writing this month’s message it is the day after Thanksgiving and I’m in northern Idaho visiting friends and family. The weather here makes me appreciate the fact that I live in Arizona. While I was in the Tacoma, Washington area I visited the Lemay America’s Car Museum. If you are in this neck of the woods I would make this a must-see. About 350 cars were on display in a very unique building. We saw probably 10 or so Oldsmobiles on display of the more than 3000 cars of the Lemay collection.
Harold Lemay amassed this collection over the years and put them in buildings at his home and an old school facility. Those who attended the OCA Nationals in Seattle in 2005 toured the collection. It was a lesson in how to stuff ten pounds of potatoes in a five pound sack, a truly memorable experience.
You should all have the new club directory by now. Thanks to Wendy Crosby and Paul Hartlieb. This useful tool will put you in touch with our membership for help and enable comunication to keep our Oldsmobiles going.

I want to welcome Steve Jerome of New York to our team of model year advisors. Steve will be handling the 1977–1980 cars. Thanks Steve, for volunteering. When you receive information from our team of advisors please acknowledge receipt of material. We have no way of knowing whether you got it unless you respond, so please let us know. I hope to see many of you this year at the various shows.
Please contribute to your magazine with articles and pictures, If you have any questions or concerns my door is always open here by phone or email or if you’re in this part of the world come by the Rocket Ranch for a visit.
